A group of 10 people who reached the National Human Rights Commission office demanding the publication of a report prepared to bring out the truth of incidents that occurred during the movement led by the Gen-Z protest on September 8 and 9 were arrested by the police on May 11, 2026.
According to SP Gautam Mishra, the information officer at the District Police Range Jawalakhel, one woman and nine men who had reached the stage of staging a sit-in outside the Commission’s office in Harihar Bhawan, Lalitpur, were arrested and taken to the District Police Range Jawalakhel for questioning.
District Police Range Lalitpur Chief Hobindra Bogati stated that they were arrested because sit-ins and demonstrations are not allowed in diplomatic areas and prohibited zones.
The police have stated that their interrogation and investigation are ongoing, and therefore, the names of those arrested have been kept confidential.
