Financial Support from INSEC to Pursue Legal Proceedings

Due to her weak financial condition, the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC), Karnali Province Office, provided financial assistance of Rs. 6,000 to Binita Gautam, 29, of Barahatal Rural Municipality–5 on April 16.

Her husband, Tilak Gautam,29, subjected her to mental, physical, and economic abuse, and later went to India after marrying another woman. Following this, a case was filed at the District Court, Surkhet, to initiate legal proceedings. Citing her poor financial condition and difficulty in pursuing the case, the survivor had submitted an application to INSEC on March 12.

A meeting of the Human Rights Assistance Desk held on April 8 decided to provide her with financial support of Rs. 6,000. According to Narayan Subedi, Coordinator of INSEC Karnali Province Office, the assistance was provided to help cover transportation costs, photocopying, and court fees required during court proceedings.
