Financial Assistance Provided by INSEC to Woman Victim of Violence

A 44-year-old woman who is a survivor of domestic violence has received financial assistance from the INSEC Bagmati Province Office on April 15, to support her in pursuing legal proceedings.

The survivor, Jivan Kala Basnet Rai, originally from Bhaisepankha in Bhojpur district and currently residing in Dhungeadda, Kathmandu, was provided with financial aid of Rs. 5,000 to help facilitate her access to the legal process.

According to the report, her husband had been physically abusing her repeatedly since their marriage. Most recently, on March 4, she was severely assaulted, resulting in serious injuries to her head and hand. She received treatment through the One Stop Crisis Management Center (OCMC) at Bir Hospital.

After the survivor filed an application at the INSEC Bagmati Province Office on April 10, the financial support was provided to help ensure her access to justice. Shiva Prasad Khakurel, Coordinator of INSEC Bagmati Province Office, stated that arrangements are also being made to place her in a safe shelter home if necessary.
