Police arrested Kusum Kumari Mahato, 42 of Bhimfedi Rural Municipality-9, Makwanpur, on April 1 on charges of beating and killing her mother-in-law, Ambika Bartoula, 69.
The victim’s family had filed a complaint with the District Police Office on April 1, accusing the suspect of beating Bartoula on March 24.
Bartoula, who was injured from the assault, had received treatment at Hetauda Hospital. After treatment, she was staying at home, and the police reported that she died on April 1. Following her death and the filing of the complaint on the same day, the suspect was arrested, and the police have stated that necessary investigations are underway under the charge of killing.
