Police arrested the then Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Chhabilal Rijal, on March 31, for allegedly ordering firing that led to the death of youths in Banewshor during the Gen-Z protest on September 8.
The high-level inquiry commission formed to investigate the movement had found the then Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Rijal, guilty and recommended prosecuting him. He was the Chief District Officer of Kathmandu during the demonstrations on September 8 and 9, 2025.
