Ram Bahadur Saud, 40, of Tikapur Municipality, has been arrested on March 19, on charges of beating DSP Pradip Poudel, who was stationed at the Armed Police Force unit located at Khakraula border point in Tikapur Municipality-9.
According to DSP Nabin Raj Budhathoki of the Area Police Office, Tikapur, Saud—one of the five accused who had been absconding—was arrested based on a complaint filed by the victim’s side. Investigation into the case is ongoing, and search efforts are underway for the remaining accused.
DSP Budhathoki also stated that full details of the five absconding individuals involved in the incident cannot be disclosed at this time.
The incident occurred on March 18, during a discussion with the Tikapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry regarding the seizure of illegally imported goods from India. During the discussion, local youths and traders entered the Armed Police Force premises and assaulted DSP Paudel.
Following the circulation of a video of the incident on social media, a three-member investigation committee has been formed under the coordination of SP Anil Karki of the Armed Police Force No. 7 Baidyanath Brigade to investigate the facts of the case.
