INSEC Supports for Victims in Legal Proceedings

Due to her weak economic condition and difficulty in pursuing legal procedures, a woman survivor of domestic violence was provided financial assistance on March 9 through the Human Rights Assistance Desk under the Protection Project by INSEC Lumbini Province Office, Nepalgunj. INSEC’s Laxmi Chaudhary handed over Rs. 10,000 on March 9 to the 31-year-old domestic violence survivor from Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City–19.

According to the summons served on Magh 28, 2082, regarding a divorce case filed at the District Court, Nepalgunj, by her husband, Bharat Damai, 39, of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City–19, the survivor faced difficulties in accessing the judicial process due to financial constraints. With a recommendation from the Dalit Women Association, she submitted an application to the INSEC office on February 11, requesting financial assistance to access justice.

After her husband expelled her from the house without providing any care or support, the survivor has been living at her maternal home in Dalaipur, Dudwa Rural Municipality–5, along with her 13-year-old and 11-year-old sons. INSEC Program Officer Tek Nath Acharya stated that the financial support was provided to facilitate her access to the judicial process.
