Bagmati Police Arrests 5 Individuals, Including a Woman, with Illegal Weapons

In Bagmati Province, between February 13 and March 3, the police have arrested five individuals with weapons; one in Kathmandu, two in Makwanpur, and one in Kavre and Bhaktapur each.

From Nagdhunga, Chandragiri Municipality-2, the police arrested Keyur Puri, 30 of Kritipur Municipality-2, on February 13, along with a pistol marked “Made in USA” and 4 rounds of ammunition. Police deployed from the Nagdhunga outpost found the pistol while searching a car travelling from Chitwan to Kathmandu and arrested the driver along with the vehicle occupants.

Similarly, Sunita Shrestha, 46, of Panauti Municipality-6, Ganesthan, was arrested by the police on February 16 with a handgun. The weapon was recovered when police from Panauti Outpost searched her house.

On March 1, the police arrested Kumar Rayamajhi, 55, and Bikram Rayamajhi, 27, of Makwanpur Thaha Municipality-4, Dharapani, with a handgun and iron pellets. Police from the Palung Police Office recovered the weapon during a house search and arrested both individuals.

Furthermore, a special armed unit arrested Ayan Sedhai, 31, originally from Palungtar Municipality–9, Gorkha, now residing in Suryabinayak Municipality–8, Bhumdol, on March 3, with an INSAS rifle. The team also seized four SLR bullets, two plastic rounds, one short gun round, a kukri with two scabbards, a machete, and five syringes. DIG Bishnu Prasad Bhatt, spokesperson for the armed unit, stated that these weapons are suspected to have been looted during the Gen-Z movement on September 8-9.

The arrested Sedhai has been handed over to the Nepal Police for legal proceedings. The police are conducting necessary investigations regarding these incidents.
