Imtiyaz Ahmad, 30 of Khadka Municipality–9, Lalpatty, was arrested on February 19 on charges of abducting a seven-year-old girl and demanding ransom.
After the girl went missing from her home on the evening of February 17, her family informed the police, following which an investigation was launched immediately.
According to Saptari Police Chief (SP) Gautam Kumar KC, the accused had called the girl’s family and demanded ransom. A police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Kalyanpur, under the command of Police Inspector Sanjeev Bogati, along with a team from the Police Post, Bisanpur, led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Harendra Prasad Yadav, apprehended Ahmad from Rupani Rural Municipality–1 and rescued the girl safely.
The accused has been kept at the Area Police Office, Kalyanpur, and further investigation is underway, police said.
