A complaint was filed by the victim’s side at the Area Police Office, Ratnanagar, on 10 January 2026, alleging the killing of Sukmaya Devi Tamang, 68, a resident of Ratnanagar Municipality-4, Film Hall Road, which occurred on 10 January. Police stated that Tamang was found with her hands and legs bound.
Considering the nature of the incident, it can be presumed that the killing was committed after gagging her mouth, said Chitwan Police Spokesperson DSP Rabindra Khanal.
The post-mortem examination of the body was conducted at Bharatpur Hospital on 11 January. DSP Khanal stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing and that no one has been arrested so far.
