Information Officer Nepal further stated that among the 41 Indian inmates who escaped, 38 inmates, including 35 men and three women, are still at large.
The district jail has a capacity of 175 inmates, including 150 men and 25 women, but currently holds 394 inmates, comprising 339 men and 55 women. Of them, there are 43 female convicts and 12 female detainees, while among men there are 268 convicts and 71 detainees, information officer Ramesh Nepal said.
He also told INSEC representatives that the jail is facing a shortage of drinking water, with no functional drinking water tap inside the prison. He said that for a long time, the jail has been purchasing jar water for inmates. He added that installing a clean drinking water tap would significantly reduce health-related problems.
