The Rupandehi District Court has sentenced a 68-year-old man from Siyari Rural Municipality–1 to 22 years’ imprisonment in charges of raping a 10-year-old girl.
The bench of District Court Judge Shyamlal Ghimire, in its hearing on December 10, found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 22 years in jail, a fine of Rs. 740,000, compensation of Rs. 50,000, and an additional Rs. 2,200 to be deposited in the Victim Relief Fund, according to District Court Information Officer Padam Aryal.
The victim’s side filed a complaint at the District Police Office on April 25, 2024, stating that the accused had raped the child on April 18, 2024. Police arrested the accused from his residence on April 25. The victim’s medical examination was conducted on the same day at Bhim Hospital, Bhairawa.
