Sensitisation and Orientation Program Concluded

A sensitisation and orientation program was conducted on December 9, 2025 in Budhiganga Rural Municipality, Morang.
The program was organised jointly by the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) Koshi Province Office, Biratnagar, and Budhiganga Rural Municipality, and held in Budhiganga Rural Municipality–1, Morang.

Facilitating the orientation program on ‘Gender-Based Violence, Human Rights, and Rule of Law,’ INSEC Koshi Province Coordinator Manohar Kumar Pokharel emphasized that ensuring women’s dignified political, social, and cultural presence and participation is essential to ending all forms of violence.Pokharel further stressed the need to consistently strive to identify and address the root causes of discrimination and violence in order to promote freedom, equality, a dignified life, and justice.

Coordinator and facilitator of the Human Rights Defenders Network formed by INSEC, Devi Baskota, stated that ending all forms of inequality and ensuring equal justice and rights for all groups is essential for building a progressive, peaceful, and equitable society.
She added that women, who have endured various forms of physical, mental, and material violence for centuries at the hands of family members, relatives, and society, continue to face violence even in the digital age. Therefore, she emphasised the collective responsibility to ensure economic equality, prosperity, and social justice.

Inaugurating the program before the orientation session, Budhiganga Rural Municipality Chair Jit Narayan Thapa Magar stated that the municipality is committed to building an equitable society by prioritising equal participation, social security, adherence to the law, and economic prosperity. He expressed confidence that INSEC’s active support will be instrumental in advancing the awareness and sensitization campaign initiated to fulfill the municipality’s commitments.

Presiding over the inauguration session, Budhiganga Rural Municipality Vice-Chair Amrita Kumari Gachchhadar stated that it is necessary to reform traditional social structures by focusing on issues of gender, gender-based violence, and identity while ending inequality, exploitation, and violence. She further emphasised linking the issue of equality with social justice, good governance, and prosperity.

The program was attended by Ward Chair Somraj Kafle of Ward No. 1, Ward Chair Revati Narayan Chaudhary of Ward No. 2, Ward 1 members Mohan Prasad Khatri and Mithila Acharya, Program Coordinator Tulsa Acharya from CDO Nepal, and Shobhi Yadav of the Federation of Persons with Disabilities, among others.

The program, conducted by Nischalata Karki, Head of the Women and Children Section of Budhiganga Rural Municipality, was attended by 58 participants, including women’s groups, mother’s groups, and adolescent girls from Wards 1, 2, 3, and 4.
