The Rupandehi District Court has sentenced Ram Jiwan Malla, 24, of Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality-2 to seven years in jail for raping a 15-year-old girl. Padam Aryal, the public information officer of the District Court, informed that in the bench of Judge Shyamlal Ghimire of the District Court on 24 November found the accused guilty and sentenced him to seven years in jail, ordered him to pay Rs 100,000 in compensation to the victim, and Rs 1,300 as court fees.
Theaggrieved party filed a complaint at the Lumbini Area Police Office on 12 October 2017, alleging that the accused had raped the victim on that same day. The victim underwent a medical examination at Bhim Hospital, Bhairahawa, on 12 October. The accused is still at large. According to records obtained from the Land Revenue Office, Bhairahawa, in the name of the accused’s father, Matelu Mallaha, the court has ordered to immediately freeze the accused’s share of the property in accordance with Section 156 of the The National Criminal Procedure (Code) Act, 2017.
