Eight Polling Stations in Sankhuwasabha Declared Highly Sensitive

For the House of Representatives election in the district with a single constituency, authorities have classified 8 of the 108 polling stations as highly sensitive. They have designated 82 polling stations as sensitive and 18 polling stations as normal. The District Election Office stated that, based on analysis of previous elections considering factors such as geographical remoteness, limited access for security personnel, and difficulties in transportation and communication , polling stations and centers have been classified into three categories: highly sensitive, sensitive, and normal.

After the government set the House of Representatives election date for March 5, the district-level committee decided to recommend the addition of four more polling stations in the district. The district-level committee decided to recommend the addition of polling stations because of the high number of voters and the fact that voters would need to walk four to five hours to cast their ballots. Chief District Officer Sirjana Thapaliya stated that, due to geographical remoteness, the number of voters, and the long distances requiring four to five hours of walking, the decision was made to add four more polling stations. Thapaliya stated that since voters would have to walk for four to five hours or even up to a full day, the district has decided to recommend the addition of four more polling stations to the Election Commission. She added that the four proposed polling stations, for which the necessary procedures had been completed by the respective wards and local bodies, will undergo on-site security sensitivity assessments and then be forwarded to the Election Commission through the District Election Office.

Chief District Officer Thapaliya stated that the decision to add polling stations has been made for the following schools: Himal Darshan Primary School, Limsuwa, Mahadev Primary School, Katuwalgaon, Makalu Rural Municipality-2, Ekuwa Primary School, Makalu Rural Municipality-3, and Barun Primary School, Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-4. It has been decided to relocate the polling station in Yafu, Makalu Rural Municipality-6, and to correct the name of the polling station at Himandri Secondary School, Seduwa, Makalu Rural Municipality-2. The proposals for adding polling stations, relocating them, and correcting names were submitted by the local bodies for approval.
