On the evening of 14 November 2025, Ward Chairperson Bindeshwar Yadav, 45 of Mithila Bihari Municipality–9, Aldupatti, was shot dead. During a feast organized following the death of Dukhi Yadav from the same neighborhood, a dispute arose between two groups over the delay in serving food. Amid the quarrel, Shambhu Yadav (38), a police constable, opened fire on the ward chairperson, injuring him. He was taken to the Provincial Hospital in Janakpur for treatment, but doctors declared him dead on the way.
According to the Dhanusha District Police Office, Shambhu Yadav, who fired the shot, and Dharmanath Yadav, 40, who attacked with a khukuri, were arrested on 14 November 2025.
The ward chairperson’s brother, Rajkishor Yadav, 60, reported that Avinash Yadav, 20, Dipendra Yadav, 42, and Ramwaran Yadav, 50 were also injured in the incident.
Among them, the critically injured Ramwaran Yadav has been referred to Kathmandu for further treatment, while the remaining injured individuals are receiving care at the Provincial Hospital in Janakpur, police said. The victims’ side filed a complaint at the Dhanusha District Police Office on 15 November 2025.
The body has been kept at the Provincial Hospital in Janakpur for post-mortem examination.
