The Rupandehi District Court has sentenced Bishwas Nepali,23, a daily wage labourer originally from Annapurna Rural Municipality–5 and currently residing in Sainamaina Municipality–6, to three years and six months in prison for attempting to rape a 45-year-old woman.
According to the District Court Information Officer Padam Aryal, the bench of Judge Dhanishwar Poudel on November 9, 2025 convicted the accused of attempted rape and ordered him to pay Rs. 25,000 as compensation to the victim and deposit Rs. 800 in the Victim Relief Fund.
The victim had filed a complaint at the Saljhandi Area Police Office on May 18, stating that the accused had attempted to rape her on May 10. The victim’s medical examination was conducted on May 16 at Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Butwal. Police had arrested the accused from Murgiya on the same day.
