The Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) provided financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to a 24-year-old woman, a victim of violence, under the protection project operated with the support of DCA to help her access justice. The victim had submitted an application to the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC), Madhesh Province Office on November 4, requesting support for initiating action in the legal process. The amount was provided through the Human Rights Help Desk of INSEC Madhesh Province.
The victim filed a case at the Dhanusha District Court on November 5 against her husband Dhiresh Shah,25, of Mithila Bihari Municipality-5, accusing him of inflicting physical and mental torture while demanding additional dowry. They were married on May 12, 2023. The victim stated that although she had provided Rs 200,000 and other assets as dowry, her husband and his family began subjecting her to violence within just four days of the marriage, demanding more dowry.
