Police have arrested nine cadres of Janamat Party led by CK Raut on December 31, 2021. They were arrested while shutting down the east-west highway area of Chandranigahapur.
The police had intervened on the second day of the indefinite highway closure declared by the Janamat Party led by CK Raut on December 30.
According to DSP Lilaraj Lamichhane, the arrested ones are Lalit Malik Sanu, 35 of Yamunamai Rural Municipality, Ram Biswas Sah, 23, of Chandrapur Municipality-7, Jawahar Ram, 33, of Garuda Municipality-8, Biresh Chaurasiya, 24 of Paroha Municipality-8, Dil Bahadur Mandal, 27 of Ishnath Municipality-3, Arjun Prasad Kushwaha, 21 of Ishnath Municipality-9, Bibekanand Sah, 33 of Gadimai Municipality-4, Basanta Kushwaha, 44, and Awadh Ram, 42, of Baudhimai Municipality-7.
DSP Lamichhane said that despite the declaration of peaceful protest, the cadres of the party had disturbed the life of the public, the passengers were obstructed and they were arrested for ignoring the rights of others while exercising their rights.
Basanta Kushwaha, who was arrested, has accused the police of arresting him during a peaceful protest.
