Beating Upon Doctor at Chure Hill Hospital in Hetauda

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Sushil Shah, working at Chure Hill Hospital in Hetauda, was subjected to beating by Ajit Bidari of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-11 on November 5 following a dispute over a patient’s treatment process.

Raju Bidari brought Suraksha Kandel, who had sustained minor injuries to her elbow after a fall, to the hospital for treatment. Dr. Sachin Das, on duty in the hospital emergency, called orthopedic surgeon Dr. Shah to examine her. This led to a dispute between the patient’s side and the doctor regarding treatment under health insurance, according to the hospital CEO, Dr. Akesh Prajapati.

According to the hospital administration, before stitching the patient’s wound, Dr. Shah advised that the patient should be admitted for one day of observation. The patient’s relatives refused admission and pressured for a referral to another hospital, which led to a dispute during which Dr. Shah was physically abused. Following discussions on the morning of November 6 between the hospital administration and Dr. Shah, they decided to file a written complaint at the police as per hospital CEO Dr. Akesh Prajapat.
