Forced to Travel Dangerously Due to Lack of Bridge

Locals of Nepka in Chankheli Rural Municipality-5, are forced to undertake a risky journey to reach Tanke Valley. They have to cross several streams on the way, but the absence of proper bridges has made the journey dangerous.

According to Jas Bahadur Tamang, a resident of Chankheli-5, people reach Tanke Valley by crossing makeshift wooden bridges, risking their safety. He said that during the monsoon, the situation becomes even more difficult as the streams swell and there are no suspension bridges over them.

Residents of Nepka travel to Tanke Valley to graze their livestock and engage in trade at the Chinese marketplace of Haryachaur. However, they must cross dozens of streams, relying only on precarious wooden planks laid across the water to make their way through.

Meanwhile, local representatives charter helicopters to reach Tanke, while ordinary citizens are forced to risk their lives to get there, said local resident Tamang. He complained that the representatives have paid no attention to constructing bridges in the area, despite the hardships faced by the people.
