Of the 76 inmates who escaped from the Myagdi District Jail during the Gen-Z movement, five remain at large, while six of the 19 inmates who escaped from the Parbat District Jail are still on the run.
According to Jail Chief Pratigya Subedi of the Myagdi District Jail, 76 inmates had escaped on September 10, 2025 after vandalising the jail facilities. Police have since recaptured 71 inmates, with 44 arrested by police and 27 who voluntarily turned themselves in.
The recaptured inmates underwent medical examinations at Province Hospital Beni before being returned to the District Jail Myagdi, Subedi said.
Similarly, according to Jail Chief Navin Subedi of the Parbat District Jail, of the 19 inmates who had escaped, 12 were arrested in Parbat and one in Dang. However, six remain at large, four convicted of rape, one of cooperative fraud, and one of killing, he said.
