After the suicide of Ruby Safi, 24, of Rajbiraj Municipality-2, a complaint has been filed against her father-in-law Rajkumar Safi, 55, mother-in-law Mohini Devi Safi, 50, and brother-in-law Sajan Safi, 27, on the charge of suicide abetment.
The complaint was filed by Ruby’s father Ram Krishna Safi, 57, of Adroha in Saptakoshi Municipality-8. It was filed on October 25, 2021, at the District Police Office.
DSP Madhav Prasad Kafle told INSEC that the District Police Office has received the arrest warrant from the District Court after they lodged the complaint of suicide abetment.
Ruby’s husband Rajan Safi was a pharmacy assistant at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital, Rajbiraj. He had died on November 4, 2020, due to COVID-19. After Rajan’s death, Ruby was eligible for receiving the compensation amount of NRs. 2,500,000 deposited by the government in Rastriya Banijya Bank and NRs. 1,200,000 deposited as insurance in Janamukhi Sahakari Sanstha. It has been alleged that Ruby’s in-laws conspired and tortured her physically and mentally which compelled Ruby to kill herself.
The post-mortem of the deceased was conducted at BP Koirala Health Science Academy on October 5. Police have informed that a search is ongoing for the accused family members.
