Goma Thapa, 50, of Musikot Municipality-3 has obtained citizenship on September 1, 2021, after the initiative of INSEC.
Chief District Officer Rudra Devi Sharma granted the citizenship in the presence of stakeholders including Mayor of Musikot Municipality Somnath Sapkota, SP of the District Police Office Gopal Chandra Bhattarai, Ward Chairperson Karnadhwaj GC and INSEC Representative Toplal Aryal.
Goma is a person with a physical disability. The lower half of her body doesn’t move. Additionally, she has psychosocial problems. Musikot Municipality’s Executive Member Saraswati Ghimire said that she has been deprived of social security allowance for 10 years because she did not have citizenship.
Goma had not received citizenship because of her disabilities. Goma’s sister Tika Ghimire and Executive Member of Musikot Municipality Saraswati Ghimire had urged INSEC Representative Toplal Aryal for necessary facilitation for her citizenship on July 29, 2021.
INSEC representative Aryal had taken the initiative to draw the attention of the Chief District Officer and had facilitated the process as well. Goma’s family members have expressed happiness after getting citizenship.
