A complaint was filed at the Jumla District Police Office on March 22, against Khemraj Rokaya, 18, of Kankasundari Rural Municipality–7, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl on January 3. The accused has been absconding since the complaint was filed.
During a medical examination, it was found that the girl was 16 weeks pregnant. Due to severe anemia, her health condition became critical. The girl was discharged from the hospital on March 19 after a week of treatment.
According to the victim, she had been experiencing bleeding problems for about a month. Inspector Lokendra Adhikari of Jumla District Police Office stated that the incident only came to light after she sought hospital treatment. “A police complaint has been filed. We have initiated the necessary investigation. The accused, however, remains at large,” he said.
