Sentenced to Seven Years’ Imprisonment for Rape

The District Court has sentenced Aakash Ghartimagar, 27, originally from Nisikhola Rural Municipality–6, Bhalkot of Baglung and currently residing in Baragung Muktikshetra–2, Chhyanggoth of Mustang, to seven and a half years’ imprisonment on the charge of raping a 30-year-old woman.

According to Dipendra Paudel, the information officer of the Mustang District Court, the court bench on 3 February found the accused guilty and sentenced him to seven and a half years in prison, imposed a fine of Rs. 300,000, and ordered him to deposit Rs. 1,200 into the Victim Relief Fund.

The victim’s side had filed a complaint at the District Police Office, Mustang, on February 14, accusing the offender of raping the woman on the same day. Police arrested the accused on Falgun 2. A bench of District Court Judge Bidyaraj Paudel, on 11 March, ordered that he be sent to judicial custody for trial proceedings.
