The District Court of Rupandehi has sentenced Purushottam Bhattarai, 47, of Tilottama Municipality-2 to six months imprisonment for raping a seven-year-old girl. The bench of Judge Ashok Kumar Basnet on November 3 sentenced him to six months imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000, and ordered him to pay Rs. 50,000 as compensation to the victim, according to Court Information Officer Padam Aryal.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the Butwal Area Police Office on April 27, stating that the accused had raped the victim on April 13. The victim’s medical examination was conducted on April 27 at Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Butwal. The police arrested the accused from his home on the same day.
