45 Individuals Declared Martyrs by the Government (With List)
The Government of Nepal has declared 45 individuals as martyrs among those who died during the Gen-Z movement. A Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on November 3, 2025, decided, on the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs to grant martyr status to 45 people who died during the protests carried out by Gen-Z on September 8 and 9. The government has declared as martyrs, Buddha Bahadur Tamang of Kirtipur Municipality–2, Kathmandu; Iswat Bahadur Adhikari of Kathmandu Metropolitan City–11; Santosh Bishwakarma of Belka Municipality–4, Udayapur; Sulav Raj Shrestha and Ayush Thapa of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City–1, Banke; Shriyam Chaulagain of Belbari Municipality–11, Morang; Gaurav Joshi of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City–5, Kailali; Yog Bahadur Shrestha of Bahrabise Municipality–6, Sindhupalchok; and Umesh Mahat of Chautara Sangachokgadhi Municipality–8. Likewise, Asahab Alam Thakurai of Birgunj Metropolitan City–12, Parsa; Sauran Kishor Shrestha of Baglung Municipality–4, Baglung; Subhash Kumar Bohora of Khaptad Chhanna Rural Municipality–7, Bajhang; Bhimraj Dhami of Durgathali Rural Municipality–1; Rasik Khatri Khatiwada of Panauti Municipality–10, Kavrepalanchok; Dilanarayan Tamang of Temal Rural Municipality–7; Vinod Maharjan of Lalitpur Metropolitan City–7; Yogendra Nyaupane of Golanjor Rural Municipality–1, Sindhuli; Milan Rai of Dudhauli Municipality–8; and Dipesh Sunuwar of Tinpatan Rural Municipality–6 have been declared martyrs. The government has also declared as martyrs: Chhatraman Kuthumi of Pakhribas Municipality–2, Dhankuta; Ojhan Budha of Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality–2, Bajura; Sarkumar Rai of Chaudandigadhi Municipality–3, Udayapur; Shabharaj Balami Shrestha of Kakani Rural Municipality–1, Nuwakot; Lachhuman Rai of Panchakanya Rural Municipality–2; and Dhiraj Shrestha of Tadi Rural Municipality–3; Devkumar Subedi of Lalbandi Municipality–5, Sarlahi; Pravin Kulung of Silichong Rural Municipality–3, Sankhuwasabha; Nikhita Gautam of Kalika Municipality–8, Chitwan; Abhishek Chaulagain of Shailung Rural Municipality–4, Dolakha; and Mahesh Budhathoki of Bigu Rural Municipality–3; Vijay Chaudhary of Lahan Municipality–15, Siraha; and Niraj Pant and Deepak Singh Saud of Dasharathchanda Municipality–6, and Shivanath Rural Municipality–2, Baitadi. Similarly, the Ministry of Home Affairs stated that Abhishek Shrestha of Inaruwa Municipality–6, Sunsari; Sajan Rai of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City–22; Mohan Sardar of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City–14; Madhav Saru Magar of Bhumikasthan Municipality–4, Arghakhanchi; Bimbal Babu Bhatt of Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality–5, Gorkha; Arjun Bhatt of Gandaki Rural Municipality–4; and Anish Parajuli of Palungtar Municipality–2; Gyanindra Sedhai of Arjundhara Municipality–11, Jhapa; Dinesh Rajbanshi of Ward No. 8; Kamal Bhandari of Hilihang Rural Municipality–2, Panchthar; Amrit Gurung of Rupa Rural Municipality–5, Kaski; and Uttam Thapa of Lekam Rural Municipality–3, Darchula have also been declared martyrs.
The government has already decided to provide financial support to the families of the martyrs of the Gen-Z movement and to those who were injured.
