Provide Treatment to Injured and Take Action against Culprit
Our serious attention has been drawn by the health condition of student duo Akhilesh Jha and Durgananda Thakur who are seriously injured by the police beating inside the District Police Office (DPO) Saptari on October 14. The injured students have been taken to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences Dharan after their treatment was not possible in Rajbiraj. We wish for their speedy recovery.
According to the victims, policemen including senior constable Suresh Yadab were arrested and kicked, punched and beaten with lathi inside the DPO for showing black flag to the Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai who was heading towards the UCPN-M party office in Rajbiraj-8.
We confirm that this incident carried out by Saptari police has made a mockery of human rights and democracy. We urged the government to take action against the guilty policemen and immediately provide treatment to the injured.
