We condemn the serious attack on the founder of Samata Shikshya Niketan and Honorary Member of INSEC Uttam Sanjel on the evening of July 14. An unidentified group of 8-10 persons in motorcycle had attacked him while he was at the clinic of the school in Kumarigal Baudha of Kathmandu Metropolis-6. Severely injured in the attack, Sanjel is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. We wish for his speedy recovery.
Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) had honored Sanjel with Prakash Human Rights Award 2009 acknowledging the contribution of Samata Shikshya Niketan in education sector.
Samata Shikshya Niketan, which provides quality education at minimal fees, has made an incomparable contribution in the education sector of Nepal. We call on the Nepal Government to bring the assailants to justice.
