Demand for Legal Action

Attention of Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) has been drawn towards the news published by a web news portal Ratopati on November 18. We would like to challenge the portal to prove the truth of the news published mentioning Subodh Raj Pyakurel, INSEC chairperson and coordinator of Citizen’s Campaign for Clean Election (CCCE). Pyakurel’s presence in several programs organized by CCCE in Kathmandu on the day mentioned by Ratopati can be verified through the news published in several national newspapers.

Acknowledging the important role of media to ensure clean election in Nepal, we urge all the media persons to refrain from publishing such baseless and false news and stick to truth. Along with that, we also call upon Election Commission, Press Council and Ministry of Information to take due legal action against publication of such news which violates the election code of conduct.
