Continuous rainfall triggered landslides that have claimed 34 lives across various municipalities in Ilam District. As of 1:00 p.m. on October 5, four people remain missing. Chief District Officer of Ilam, Sunita Nepal, reported that the bodies of 11 victims have already undergone postmortem. The District Administration Office stated that a detailed assessment of the damage is still underway.
Chief District Officer Sunita Nepal reported that the landslides claimed lives of five in Manebhanjyang, Sundarijal-1 of Suryodaya Municipality, six in Ghos, Ilam Municipality-6, four in Sandakpur Rural Municipality, three in Mangshebung Rural Municipality, eight in Deumai Municipality, seven in Maijogmai Rural Municipality, and one in Phakphokthum Rural Municipality. She added that two people remain missing in Sandakpur Rural Municipality, while one each is unaccounted for in Ilam Municipality and Maijogmai Rural Municipality.
