Preparation meeting for Universal Periodic Review( UPR) has been organized in Kathmandu on May 9 jointly by INSEC, beyond Bejing Committee including many other organizations.
The objective of the meeting was to prepare for the report that will be presented in UPR according to the organizer.
Speaking at the program INSEC chair Dr Indira Shrestha said that the report is prepared by the state and other stakeholders and recommendation along with the coordination is needed.
Shrestha said that the participation is important for the third phase of review under UPR in 2020.
NHRC officer Ambika Ghimire said that the first phase of UPR is conducted in 2011 and second review is already made in 2015. She stressed that in third phase of UPR in 2020, it must include rights of all people.
While presenting work plan Samjha Shrestha of NGO network secretariat said that in every four years review of Human Rights related issue of the state must be handed over.
In second phase of review Nepal has accepted 152 recommendations out of 195.
