Curfew Imposed for Indefinite Period in Sunsari

Police, Kaptanguj of Devangunj Rural Municipality -3 informed, a 24-yer-old Om Prakash Mehta of Kaptangunj of Devnaganj Rural Municipality -3 lost his life after he was shot by the police. The local administration has declared indefinite curfew from July 27 2026, 7 am onwards.

Basudev Ghimire, Chief of District Police informed curfew has been imposed from July 27 2027, 7 am onwards until further notice.

The order restricts and completely prohibits movement within the specified boundary, any type of gathering, procession, protest, meeting and demonstrations.

The curfew has been imposed as per the provision of Section-6 of The Local Administration Act, 2028. The order states “Anyone found violating the said order will be fined with NPR 1,000 and Imprisonment up to 1 month.”

The District Administration has imposed the curfew within 5 areas of districts demarcating 4 boundary areas. As informed by the District Administration Office as per the demarcation, curfew has been imposed in Area “A” Nuniya Tola to the East of Hir Nagra Bazar, West Khuniya Dhar in the western side, Harinagar Rural Municipality Office in the north, Basantpur Mod in the South. Similarly, Under Area “B” Moriya Dhar Khola in East under Bhutaha Bazar Area, Idgaha Filed in the West, Sunsari Khold in the North and Harinagar Rural Municipality Office in the South.

Under Area “C” Yadav Tola in the east of Kasnagunj Bazar Area, Panchou Simal Secondary School in the West, Krishna Secondary School in the North and Nepal-India Boundary in the South. Similarly, under Area “D” Kasmasia Madarsa to the east of Ghuski Bazar Area, Police Post Ghuski in the west, Isha Hardware in the North and Hilal Public School in the South are the designated 4 boundary areas. Under Area “E” Musahar Tol in Road to Biratnagar in the east of Dewangunj Bazar, Moriya Khola in the West, Chiura Mil in the North and to the Rural Municipality Office in the South .
