A technical staff member who had arrived to conduct a field inspection of the Manebhanjyang–Baikunthesikhora–Balangkha–Ranitar road section was allegedly beaten by a group of workers, according to the victim.
The victim alleged that Anand Kumar Sah, a technician from the Infrastructure Development Office, Bhojpur, was beaten by workers on June 30, 2026, while inspecting the condition of the road in Ramprasad Rai Rural Municipality.
Police arrested six people on June 30 in connection with the alleged beating. The suspects have been identified as Pritam Rai, Gyan Bahadur Rai, Indra Bahadur Rai, Durga Prasad Rai, Pradeep Rai, and Neeraj Bogati.
The injured technician is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Biratnagar.
Police said the incident is under investigation, and legal action will be taken after recording statements from both parties.
The Infrastructure Development Office, Bhojpur, has condemned the assault on its employee while on official duty and called for action against those responsible, as well as guarantees for the safety of staff deployed in the field.
