Three individuals, Ashok Bhul, 25, of Tikapur Municipality-5, Kailali District; Niraj Kumar Mandal, 20, of Rajgadh Rural Municipality-3, Saptari District; and Kishor Prasad Ojha, 39, of Paterwa Sugauli Rural Municipality-4, Parsa District, were arrested by police after being shot at in Balkumari on June 21. According to Police Superintendent and spokesperson of the Narcotics Control Bureau, Koteshwor, Durga Raj Regmi, they were arrested on charges of drug trafficking.
The police stated that when the team attempted to arrest them, the suspects allegedly attacked the officers and tried to flee. In response, the police fired two warning shots into the air, and when the suspects continued to run despite being ordered to stop, one round was fired at Kishor Prasad Ojha below his right knee, after which all three were arrested.
Injured suspect Kishor Prasad Ojha was taken to the National Trauma Centre, spokesperson Regmi said. Records also show that Ojha had previously served a three-year sentence and paid a fine of Rs. 104,000 in a drug-related case and was released from Nakkhu Jail on January 1, 2026, after completing his sentence.
