Homes Handed Over to 73 Flood-Affected Families

Houses were handed over to 73 flood-affected families in Bhangaha Municipality on June 14, 2026. The new homes were constructed and provided to 73 Dalit, poor, and extremely vulnerable families who had been left homeless after floods in the Rato River on October 5 and 6, 2024.

The houses were built and handed over under the Integrated Community Development Project implemented in the municipality by Dalit Samaj Utthan Samiti Nepal, a partner organization, with financial support from Good Neighbors International Nepal. The project supported flood-affected families by providing construction materials for rebuilding their homes.

At a program held in Tharutol, Bhangaha–4, representatives of Good Neighbors International Nepal, Tupendra Khulal, and Dalit Samaj Utthan Samiti, Rambhajan Mahato, jointly handed over house ownership certificates to Mayor Sanjiv Kumar Sah. The supporting organizations constructed one house in Bhangaha–1, three in Ward No. 2, eight in Ward No. 3, twelve in Ward No. 4, eight in Ward No. 5, twelve in Ward No. 6, eight in Ward No. 7, five in Ward No. 8, and sixteen in Ward No. 9.

According to the Integrated Community Development Project, a total of 73 houses were constructed at a cost of Rs. 10,171,574, directly benefiting 375 people.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mayor Sah expressed gratitude to the supporting organizations for assisting 73 Dalit, poor, and extremely vulnerable flood-affected families in building new homes. He also praised the organizations for their contributions in areas such as education, health, sanitation, child rights, campaigns against child marriage, and income-generation activities within the municipality. He requested their continued support for the municipality’s overall development in the future.
