Bheri Hospital Doctors Resume Work with Four-Point Demands

Doctors at Bheri Hospital resumed work on April 29 after receiving information that the accused, Kushal Darlami, who allegedly threatened to kill a doctor and attempted to attack the hospital chief, had been arrested.

Doctors stated that services were resumed after receiving confirmation from the District Administration Office regarding the arrest of the accused. They have put forward four demands: action against the arrested individual under the Health Worker and Health Institution Security Act, 2010 (amended 2022); arrest of other involved individuals within 24 hours; removal of abusive content on social media; and a ban on taking photos/videos within the hospital premises without permission. They have also warned of returning to protest if their demands are not met.

Earlier, following the death of Dilsara BK, 62, of Lalpur Athais Bigha, Baijanath Rural Municipality–6, during treatment on April 26, a dispute arose between both sides, creating a tense situation. The hospital administration, citing insecurity after doctors were beaten during the dispute, had shut down OPD services indefinitely from the morning of April 28.
