The X-ray service at the District Hospital in Humla, which had been suspended for the past two weeks, has resumed operation. The service, which had been closed since February 3, came back into full operation from February 18.
Earlier, local residents who visited the hospital were forced to return without receiving the service. However, after an X-ray machine was brought in from outside the district, patients have now been able to access the service easily.
According to Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bhim Budha of the District Hospital, Humla, the hospital arranged the X-ray machine and resumed services promptly after a news report titled “X-ray Service at District Hospital Disrupted for a Week, Even Paracetamol in Shortage” was published on INSEC Online on February 12.
He stated that patients had been deprived of X-ray services for nearly two weeks after the X-ray cassette malfunctioned.
Locals had complained that around 10 to 15 patients were being turned away daily due to the lack of X-ray services. As repairing the old X-ray machine would have cost between Rs. 300,000 and 400,000, the District Hospital, Humla, requested support from the Nix Simons Institute in Lalitpur for a replacement machine.
Following the hospital’s request, the institute provided an X-ray machine worth Rs. 215,000 free of cost, Dr. Budha said.
