The Election Commission has made public the personal details of the candidates who have filed nominations for the House of Representatives election.
According to the provisions, the personal details of those who have filed nominations for the House of Representatives election, scheduled to be held on March 5, must be published. The Commission has published the personal details submitted along with the nomination papers by the candidates whose nomination papers were registered within the prescribed date under Section 22(1) of the House of Representatives Election Directive, 2025, in the first-past-the-post electoral system.
Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai informed that the Commission has published the details of all candidates in accordance with legal provisions, as making candidates’ personal details public is necessary to ensure a transparent, fair, and credible election process. This information has been published on the Commission’s website so that voters, stakeholders, the media, and the general public can easily access the necessary information about the candidates.
In the first-past-the-post electoral system, nominations have been registered for 3,486 candidates across 165 constituencies in the country. The nomination registration process was completed simultaneously nationwide on January 20. Among the total 3,486 nominations, 3,089 are male, 396 are female, and one is of another gender.
