Candidates who have filed nominations for the House of Representatives may withdraw their candidacy until 1:00 p.m. on January 23, 2026 according to the Election Commission. As per the election schedule, nominations can be withdrawn from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on January 23. Likewise, the final list of candidates will be published today between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. According to the Commission, election symbols will be allocated to candidates from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Under the election programme for the first-past-the-post electoral system, January 21 was designated as the period for filing complaints regarding claims and objections. On that day, time was allotted from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. From 3:00 p.m. on the same day until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, scrutiny of nomination papers and complaints was conducted, decisions were made, and the list of candidates was published.
A total of 3,486 candidacies have been registered across 165 constituencies nationwide. The nomination process was completed simultaneously across the country on Magh 6. Of the total candidates, 3,089 are men, 396 are women, and one is from another gender category. The House of Representatives election will be held on March 5. In the 275-member House of Representatives, 110 members will be elected through the proportional representation system, while 165 members will be elected through the direct electoral system.
