Group Involved in Illegal Excavation Attacked Police on Duty

A group involved in illegal excavation at the Kamala River, near the East-West Highway connecting Portaha in Ganeshman Charanath Municipality-8 and Karjanha Municipality-1 in Siraha, attacked police injuring one constable.  On the night of November 16, after receiving information about ongoing illegal excavation, a four-member police team from Portaha Police Post went to the site. During the operation, constable Birendra Yadav,45, was attacked by the group involved in the excavation, according to Inspector Lakshman KC of the Dhalkeber Area Police Office.

Police reported that Constable Yadav sustained serious injuries to both legs in the attack and was admitted to Lalgadh Model Hospital the same night. The police stated that more than seven tractors and a group of over 25 people were involved in the incident. The identities of the tractors that hit him and the individuals involved have been done, and the police have intensified the search for them.
