Dr. Kundan Aryal noted that under his leadership, the executive committee had carried out a provincial-level analysis of human rights in the Nepal Human Rights Yearbook, emphasized climate justice as an integral part of human rights, and launched Prachi Prakashan in every issue and special edition. INSEC’s founding chairperson, Sushil Pyakurel, recalled the period when the concept of founding membership in Forum Asia was introduced and the efforts made to establish the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) as a legal entity from the Informal Sector Study Centre. He emphasized that the continuity of the Nepal Human Rights Yearbook has been a distinctive feature of INSEC.
Former INSEC Chairperson Subodh Raj Pyakurel emphasized the need to find solutions amid crises, highlighting that it is essential to hold those in responsible positions within the state accountable under the broad leadership of civil society and to ensure that the interpretation of laws, rules, and procedures serves the interests of the people.
He stated that stakeholders need to think from the grassroots level in support of the good governance demands raised by the new generation through their movements. He added that INSEC’s reach to the grassroots population would further strengthen the organization. Outgoing INSEC Chairperson Indira Shrestha emphasized that INSEC needs to hold the state accountable in order to make its initiatives more effective, ensure they are based on the interests of victims, and establish access to justice.
