More than Rs 40,00,000 worth of property was damaged at the Chitwan District Court during the vandalism and arson during the September 9 protest. The destruction caused damage to several physical structures. According to Court Information Officer Amrit BK, employees are facing difficulties in carrying out regular duties due to a shortage of tables and chairs, and even file storage racks are unavailable.
Out of seven damaged buildings, two were completely destroyed, including the main court building. Four courtrooms, five judges’ chambers, and one security personnel building inside the premises were also completely damaged.
