Accessing Citizenships Became Complex in Absence of Chief at Lamahi District Administration Office

The Lamahi District Administration Office has been without a chief, causing difficulties for citizens in accessing services such as citizenship. Since the transfer of Office Chief Anil Rizal on 8 September, the office has remained without a chief, leaving citizens deprived of smooth and timely services. Bishnu Adhikari of Rapti Rural Municipality-2, who visited the Lamahi District Administration Office on October 8 to obtain citizenship for his son, reported difficulties in accessing smooth services. The District Administration Office, Dang, has been sending one official from Ghorahi only once a week to provide services in the absence of a chief. Because services are available just one day a week, many citizens, including Adhikari, have found it very difficult to complete their tasks and some have had to return without receiving services.

The Lamahi District Administration Office provides services such as citizenship, passports, and identity cards to residents of the Rapti Rural Municipality, Gadhwa Rural Municipality, Rajpur Rural Municipality, and Lamahi Municipality. In the absence of a chief, the office has been preparing citizens’ files six days a week, and on one day, an official is called from Ghorahi to provide services such as citizenship, according to Acting Office Chief Ishwari Bharti of the Lamahi District Administration Office.

Chief District Officer of Dang, Bishwaprakash Aryal, stated that the federal ministry has been requested to appoint an office chief. Until a new chief is posted, the District Administration Office has been sending an official from Ghorahi one day a week to provide services. He also urged citizens to visit the District Administration Office in person if they have urgent matters to be addressed.
