The Supreme Court has issued an interim order to the Ministry of Health to bring a detailed action plan on the control and treatment of the corona pandemic within seven days.
A single bench of Justice Nakul Subedi has issued an interim order in the name of the Ministry of Health to bring an action plan within seven days on May 17, 2021.
According to the order- Article 35 of the Constitution of Nepal guarantees the right of all citizens to receive free basic health care from the state and no one shall be deprived of emergency health care and with regard to the implementation of this right, the Public Health Act 2075 has ensured access and quality of health services.
In the action plan, the Supreme Court has asked to include the formation of a ‘quick response team’ to ensure the availability of ICU or ventilator for the infected in case of death due to lack of oxygen and treatment.
Similarly, it has been ordered to ensure easy and equal access to the treatment of the infected and to prepare infrastructure for treatment at the provincial and local levels as well.
Hearing the writ petition filed by advocate Manish Kumar Shrestha, the Supreme Court has also asked to inform clearly which state body is responsible for what work.
The Supreme Court has also ordered to ensure vaccination for all against COVID-19 and to make arrangements for those who have been vaccinated with the first phase to get the second phase vaccine within the specified time.
