INSEC Helps Rape Victim in Hospital Admission

A 17-year-old rape victim has been admitted to the ‘One-Door Crisis Management Centre (OCM) for Gender-Based Violence” at the District Hospital on January 3 after the initiative of Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) Taplejung.

After the victim’s family made a verbal request to INSEC, it was placed in the OCM with the necessary documents in coordination with the concerned body on the initiative of INSEC.

The victim’s mother has been placed to take care of the pregnant girl.

According to Dr Dikshanta Prasai, acting head of the district hospital, the victim has been advised to be admitted to the hospital as the delivery time of the girl is on January 6.

Dr Prasai said in a meeting with the INSEC representative, “If there is any problem in the health of the girl, we will refer her to a well-equipped hospital.” Otherwise, safe delivery is possible. ”

INSEC has coordinated with the security forces or the Red Cross as blood is required during the delivery.

The One-door Crisis Management Centre has provided her food and snacks in the morning and evening. Due to the cold weather, INSEC has provided one blanket on January 3.

INSEC has coordinated a discussion with Atharai Triveni Rural Municipality Chairperson Bishwanath Sitaula, District Police Office Constable Ramina Rai, Dr Dikshant Prasai of the hospital and the mother of the girl child in the office of the hospital.

Rural Municipality Chairperson Sitaula thanked INSEC for rescuing the girl child in coordination with the ward chairperson of the concerned ward. Sitaula said that the municipality would provide Rs. 10,000 for maternity expenses.

Due to the lack of access to the hospital due to financial hardship, INSEC has coordinated and rescued the victim.

The victim was raped on April 13, 2020, and the complaint was filed against Bal Krishna Mabo Limbu, 25, of Atharai Triveni Rural Municipality-3, Hongpang on October 29, 2020.

According to DSP Mahendra Kumar Shrestha of the District Police Office, the accused was arrested from his house on October 29 on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim.

Nawaraj Gautam from the District Court said that the accused was remanded in custody on November 22 on the order of District Court Judge Prakash Raut after the police registered a case against the accused in the district court.

The girl was examined at the District Hospital on October 30.
