Eight Arrested for Looting Weapons During Protests

Police arrested Sushil Phiyak Limbu, 22, from Miklajung Rural Municipality-3, Panchthar, on November 18 for setting fire to the Area Police Office in Damak and looting police weapons on September 8 and 9 during the protests. After arresting Limbu from Damak Municipality-6, the police recovered one 303 Mark Three rifle with a magazine, one INSAS rifle without a magazine but with butt and hand grip in burned condition, one INSAS live round, and three SLR live rounds from Arubote, Miklajung Rural Municipality-3, Panchthar. After interrogating Limbu, he revealed that the looted weapons were hidden in a shed in Lamagaun, Arubote, Miklajung Rural Municipality-3, after which the police conducted a search.

Likewise, police arrested Arun Roka,36, and Gaurav Bhujel, 20, both from Damak Municipality-9, on November 18, in connection with the arson and vandalism at the Area Police Office, Damak, on September 8 and 9. Additionally, police arrested Gangaram Limbu, 36, of Birtamod Municipality-8, Shesehang Ingnam, 19, of Mushardanda, Birtamod Municipality-7, Bhuwan Oli, 39, of Bahirdashi Rural Municipality-5, Anil Oli, 24, of Birtamod Municipality-6, Chhatis Yadav, also known as Bhola Miya, 29, of Birtamod Municipality-2, and Sahid Hussain Ansari, 22, of Harinagar Rural Municipality-1, Sunsari on November 18, in connection with the arson and vandalism at the Area Police Office, Birtamod Municipality-9.

The police have filed cases against the suspects for charges including misbehavior, attempted killing, criminal disturbance, and illegal possession of weapons.
