Police arrested Khem Raj Kathayat, 25, on July 6, 2026 while he was allegedly attempting to flee to India. He is accused of murdering 10-year-old Tanuj Chaudhary.
According to the victim’s father, Nim Raj Chaudhary, the child was allegedly killed on June 24, 2026 to steal the gold earring he was wearing. A murder case was registered at the Kailali District Police Office on June 26, 2026.
After the child went missing on June 24, police and local residents launched a search. His body was found on June 26, and authorities confirmed that he had been killed.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Yogendra Timilsina, the accused was arrested at the Trinagar border checkpoint in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City–2 and remains under investigation.
A post-mortem examination was conducted at Seti Provincial Hospital on June 27, 2026, and the body was handed over for the final rites the same day.
