135 Inmates from Damauli Jail Still Out of Contact

Among the inmates who escaped from the Damauli Jail during the Gen-Z Protest, 192 have been arrested. The jail administration reported that out of the total 327 inmates, including 20 women, 135 are still yet to be brought back. Additionally, 45 individuals from Kaski, Chitwan, Dhading, and Kathmandu have been taken into custody and sent to their respective jails, informed Acting Jailor Shyamsing Bohara.

After the old wall of the district jail in Besishar was broken down, causing increased insecurity, all inmates there were transferred to jails in Damauli and Pokhara, Kaski. From Lamjung jail, 109 inmates, including six women, were transferred. The police reported that 31 inmates were sent to Damauli jail and 78 to the Kaski jail office, totaling 109 inmates.

Tanahun Police Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police Tek Bahadur Karki stated that the search for the remaining escaped inmates is ongoing. He said, “Around one hundred inmates may still come to the jail, but the police have intensified monitoring to prevent any escapees involved in serious crimes.”
